Another Framed scene from ww1 by James Ludlow, illustrator for the Illustrated London News dated l914 and there is the word “oilette” with a tiny picture of an easel with a canvas on it with an initial we think is to identify the colorist.
This one depicts a soldier saying goodbye with his sweetheart in his arms, labeled “FOR ENGLAND, HOME, AND BEAUTY”
Canvas measures 16” by ll.50.”
Trim is on inside and can’t tell if it is gold worn off or silver, it is also matted.
Framed measures 18”x14” 8 lbs.

Picture of Scottish soldier with arm in a sling and a nurse lighting his cigarette, by illustrator Hal Ludlow who worked for the Illustrated London News, dated 1915.
This looks to be of the oilette process where Ludlow drew it and it was colored by another artist, although there is nothing to identify the colorist.
In very good condition, beautiful color, especially after all these years, with wear on the gold trim inside the wooden frame.
Measures approx. 16”x14”on the outside frame, picture inside approx. 10.50”x 12.50”. 8lbs. $115.00 incl. ins.

A scene dated 1915 by Hal Ludlow, illustrator for the Illustrated London News, which we suspect is of the oilette process even though it does not have the symbol or name of the colorist.
It depicts a British officer on a horse with a lady in furs standing next to the horse with her hand on the horse’s mane.
This picture has small damage on the right side by the frame, but the picture itself is very clear.
Some marks look to be on the inside of the glass not on the picture.
We did not want to take it apart to examine.
There is an advertisement for James Rosssiter, print seller and framer on the back.
Canvas measures ll”xl4” and has gold trim inside wood frame. And l4”xl6” framed. 6 Lbs.
